Today we have Carolina & Dominik’s You+me. As you can see in the photo, I’m lucky to have my couples on my side *wink*. This scenario seems slightly familiar too, except I was a little younger and it involved a bathtub…but that story is for another time *lol*

It is double the fun this week with TWO you+me’s!! This one is a little different as it is a blast from the past!! Renata and Joey were a former couple of mine. During their reception, things got crazy on the dance floor and we never got a chance to take our you+me photo. Well, until this weekend that is! I ended up bumping into these two at another wedding I was at and we made sure we didn’t let the night pass without getting a you+me in!!

I was thinking today about my style of photography and how I love capturing an amazing moment at a wedding; one that isn’t staged, manufactured or completely uncomfortable. There isn’t anything about “Ok, now put your arm here..and then tilt your head to the right..Ok, now put your hand on his chest, move over a bit, smile, now act serious..” that evokes a nice memory of a moment *lol*. All you’re really thinking is, “Wow, that was kinda awkward..”. I’d much rather a photo take you back to the story of the day, remembering that when I hit the shutter, the groom was telling his bride that she looked absolutely stunning, or a father of the bride was completely overwhelmed by the sight of his gorgeous daughter in her wedding gown. You can’t make those moments up..and that is why they’re priceless.

So then that got me thinking about my “You+Me” photos. Over the years I have absolutely loved the creativity, fun and laughs that these photos have brought. At the same time, I thought “Wait a second, you’re the guy that loves documenting the day as it happens..the candid moments! Isn’t the You+Me a total contradiction!?” But then I really thought about it…and the You+Me is more than a posed shot. It is more than a manufactured memory. To me, the photos represent the relationship I’ve built with my couples over the year that we get to know each other before their wedding day. It reminds me that by the time I am shooting a couples wedding, I feel like I’m not only there as a photographer, but as a guest as well. I can’t begin to tell you how special it is to arrive on the wedding day and feel totally embraced like family, and this happens time and time again.

At the end of the day, those photos mean so much to me. They’re a keepsake that I have to remind me of all the amazing friendships I’ve made over the years. They’re a representation of a journey from initial meeting to wedding day. And let’s face it….they’re SO much fun! *wink*

I am so happy to be rolling into wedding season, so I’m super excited to show everyone what I was up to at the Cambridge Mill this past weekend. Today we have Courtney and Tom’s You+Me! You all know how much I love socks that aren’t typical…in fact, I think I own more “crazy” socks than I do normal ones *lol*. So I was super excited to see that Tom had bright yellow socks not only for himself but also for all of the groomsmen!! And what do I love just as much as crazy socks? SHOES! Courtney had a second pair of shoes that she was happy to show off. And they couldn’t have been more perfect for her, the brand of the shoes is “TOMS” *wink*…I love it!

You know the saying “When I count my blessings, I count you twice”? Well that is exactly how I feel about my couples. I am seriously SO blessed to be able to do what I do and the people I work with truly make my work fulfilling. I love to give my couples a great “Bassem” experience leading up to the wedding, on the big day and afterwards when they receive their photos and albums – but the Bassem LOVE doesn’t have to end there! So that’s why I am running a contest over the month of December. What are the details? Well that is easy! I’ve made an album on my Facebook page for all of my couples who came up with a “you+me” idea in 2012. Choose your favourite you+me photo, “like” it and the couple whose photo has the MOST “likes” wins!!

What’s the prize? That’s a surPRIZE *lol*, get it!? Anyone who knows me, knows that I LOVE surprises, so I’m keeping this one on the down-low until the winner is announced. But I can promise one thing – it is very, freakin’, super, duper AWESOME!

Today we have Diana and Richard’s you + me! After looking at this photo do you really think there is any need for “African Lion’s Safari”?? *lol* I think the motto “go wild” was taken to heart and we certainly fulfilled that for our photo together.  Come back tomorrow to see their EVEN MORE wilder photo booth! *wink*

What can I say about these two other than how amazing it’s been to shoot their e-session and capture their big day? I LUV these guys!  So when it came to our You+me I had no issues with them wanting to feed me cake especially when I found it came from Cakes by Christie and it was mmmmmmm… GOOD! *wink*
